Thanks for your support

Thanks for your support

We’re now almost at the end of August, and getting back into the swing of things as we make changes to accomodate to the ‘new normal’ many pubs, restaurants and cafes have had to adapt to. The support from our customers both old and new has been fantastic, and we can’t thank you enough for continuing to support your local pub and the hospitality industry as a whole.

We’ve been participating in the governments ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme, allowing diners who eat-in to benefit from a 50% discount, up to a maximum of £10 per person, on food and non-alcoholic drinks, any Monday to Wednesday in August 2020. Diners have been able to take advantage of the offer as many times as they like during the month, and we’ve been inundated with bookings for these days.

As the scheme draws to a close, we’d like to thank our customers who have been supportive and patient during these challenging times. Our staff have been adapting to new service procedures including table service, increased cleaning and social distancing.

Though the vast majority of our customers have been supportive of these changes, unfortunately a small minority have not. We politely remind customers that we do not condone abusive behaviour to our staff in any capacity. Please remember when you visit, you may find service is slightly delayed, some menu items may be unavailable, or you may be asked to wait whilst we clean and prepare your dining area.

Our staff have been working tirelessly to ensure your visit is as comfortable and safe as possible, we simply ask for your patience and understanding during these challenging times.

We have also experienced a high-number of bookings, especially for the days of which the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme has been running. Although we’re trying our best to accommodate all customers, we have extremely limited availability now until the end of August. We remind customers to pre-book when possible to avoid disappointment (remember your booking is not confirmed until a member of our team contacts you back), we’ll be continuing to hold some tables for walk-ups on a first come first served basis.

We have a fantastic team who have pulled together to bring your favourite pubs back to life, we really appreciate all our customers who have continued to support us and for their patience and understanding.

Thank you, and we hope to see you soon.

Opening Hours Extended

Opening Hours Extended

We’ve been so pleased to welcome our customers back through our doors over the last week, of course with a number of new safety measures in place. From increased cleaning, to socially distanced seating and online orders, you’re still sure to enjoy the charm and character of your favourite pub.

Our spectacular views across the Islands landscapes and coastlines have been long missed by our regulars, and as we continue to adapt and change, we’re pleased to be increasing our operating hours into the summer months.

From Thursday 23rd July…
Opening 10.30 – 22.00 everyday (last food orders at 20:30).

As well as expanding our operational hours, we’re also pleased to be reintroducing our popular Sunday Roasts at both The Dairyman’s Daughter and The Bargeman’s Rest. As we continue to adapt we’ll be looking to bring as much of our standard menu and specials back into availability.

We’re so grateful for the continued support of our customers, and hope to see you very soon for a well deserved pint! Make sure you’re following us on socials, and join our mailing list to stay updated with the latest news and offers.

Revised menus from 4th July

We’re looking forward to reopening on Saturday 4th July and will be starting with a reduced menu for both food and drinks. Unfortunately, we will also be unable to offer roast lunches for the first Sunday on 5th July. We’ll be keeping many of our most popular dishes and hope to be bringing back more options very soon. All tables will be non-smoking, although we do have a dedicated smoking area.

Track & Trace

We will be complying with the government’s track and trace recommendations, therefore all customers will be required to register their details upon arrival. This is for the safety of our staff and other customers.

We’re reopening on Saturday 4th July

Dear customers,

The team here at The Bargeman’s Rest is looking forward to welcoming you back from Saturday, 4th July.

We’ve been busy rearranging the pub to comply with the latest government guidelines. Also we will be introducing table service, which for us will be a whole new ball game. There may be some hiccups in the first few weeks, so please be patient and bear with us.

Initially our opening hours will be from 10am to 6pm to help us adjust to the many changes. We will be able to take limited bookings inside the pub, but only by calling 01983 525828.

We’re looking forward to seeing you, it’s been too long!

All the best,
Dan, Debbie and team.

Coronavirus 2020

Coronavirus 2020

We are very aware and mindful of our customers’ concerns in relation to the worldwide outbreak of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

We would like to reassure our customers that we are proactively taking the necessary precautions, including not leaving cutlery in public spaces, issuing disposable menus and removing sauce and salt and pepper bottles from the tables. It is a work in progress but we are doing all that we can to help combat the spread of the virus within our pubs.

We’d ask that customers are also mindful to ensure the wellbeing of others. For example remembering to wash your hands before and after eating (sing happy birthday while washing hands).

We want to ensure visiting us is an enjoyable experience as always. Thank you for understanding and cooperating at this time.

‘Pianothon’ Success with Mike Grist at The Bargeman’s Rest

‘Pianothon’ Success with Mike Grist at The Bargeman’s Rest

Did you join us here at The Bargeman’s Rest on the 12th January 2020 to help support our friend Mike Grist in raising money for the South Wight Youth Theatre?

Mike is a local pianist performing across the Island with a varied music style. His 12 hour Pianothon here at The Bargeman’s Rest was in aid of raising money and awareness for the South Wight Youth Theatre, a young persons charity providing drama coaching and performance opportunities for young people up to the age of 18 right here on the Isle of Wight.

Mike preformed for 12 hours straight from 10:30am – 10:30pm keeping our lovely customers entertained throughout the day and raising a fantastic £1,250 for the charity, Well done Mike!

On his Facebook @mikegristmusic he thanked all who attended and donated, by saying:

Dear all, I must give thanks to all of those who contributed to last week’s Pianothon. The whole 12 hours was completed, and I must give thanks to Jane Gibbs and Dan from the Bargeman’s, to the band of merry men (and women) who stayed ‘TIL the end, and also those members of South Wight Youth Theatre who appeared during the day. Thanks to some VERY generous donations, I managed to raise £1250.00. I am a very happy man. Thank you all.

Be sure to visit his Facebook to be kept up to date with any future gigs and don’t forget to give The Bargeman’s Rest a follow too, to hear about all the upcoming live entertainment.
