Real Pub, Great Location
Welcome to The Bargeman’s Rest
Pubs do not get more traditional than The Bargeman’s Rest. Set on the riverside of the Isle of Wight’s county town of Newport, The Bargeman’s is famed for good honest home-cooked food and amazing beer (including some local brews).
The pub is just a short walk along Quay Street or Holyrood Street, from Newport High Street. It’s perfectly placed for a hearty meal or a refreshing drink on the water’s edge after a busy day shopping or exploring.
Newport was once a busy trading port with numerous warehouses, loading cranes, ships and barges. One of the last remaining warehouses has been extensively renovated and sits alongside the Bargeman’s Rest and is home to the Quay Arts Centre.
Opening hours: 10:30-22:00, (last food orders at 20:30)The Bargeman’s is also a popular choice of venue for meetings, conferences, special events, weddings and wakes. Take a look at our gallery and contact us for more information about availability as there are restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing measures.
